BLACK WOMEN : YOUR MUSE OR YOUR SCAPEGOAT

Society today shows us daily that their is a lack of respect for black women and that their feelings are neglected. Also that they are America’s scapegoat for so much when they’ve been forced to bury the burden of so much pain. Black women have endured years of mental and physical abuse from not only America but from the black man and still, are pressured to love and nurture them unconditionally. In the words of Malcolm X “the most disrespected person in America is the black women. The most unprotected person in America is the black woman. The most neglected person in America is the black woman.” Black women and even black men about the daily pressures put on black women. Younger black women today have a terrible insight on how they view the world and how they think women are supposed to be treated. That is why they cling to show off what actually gets them notarized which is their bodies. Bodies and features black women have passed down to one another for decades the world has duplicated and have wrongly worn. Also what these girls see, is the way the women around them (figures/role models) live and if they've seen what they have endured? Black women are taught that they are supposed to be strong and take everything on the chin. Some women face oppression and unfair treatment on a daily basis from their peers. In today’s society it’s trendy to bash black women, threaten them and utilize them for the benefit of everyone except black women. When cases like Breonna Taylor's have been the face of company's, auctions, releases and after her trial verdict was declared no one else said anything about it. Proving once again that black women mean nothing to everyone. The lives of black women are threatened everyday and America could care less. Little black girls go missing every day and the most we can do is repost a picture of them. When other children are missing they get way more media coverage.

The stereotypes of black women being harsh, mean, ghetto and non educated still holds in society today when we prove over and over that its unfair to rule us all the same. When in fact black women provide the world with so much. In fact, celebrities like Tyler Perry, Landon Ramano, Kim Kardashian and various other people who have come far in the industry by appropriating black women. Society has also forced black women to dislike one another and by putting them against each other. America has forced black women to rank their worth and beauty by how light their skin is. Making it impossible for the black community to unite because of our colorist standards. Black women started civilization and created everything golden and everything beautiful. I just want the rest of the little black girls to understand that as well.

Potential Postcard and Logo Thumbnails

I want my postcard and logos to represent, how bold yet simple I am. I wanted to make sure my name is bold in every design because, even if someone doesn't read the card, they can at least see my name. I also wanted the backgrounds of the postcards to be either light blue or lavender because I didn't want to drown out the wording with a obnoxious background color. Although all the designs showcase my name the logos are pretty much representing the love I have for dancing. In the second M logo it has a woman lifting her arms in the corner. The third logo is supposed to kind of play off as a pirouette. While I wanted the first logo to remain as simple as my initials, but as strong and bold letters.

Myanmar

Burmese Refugees in Buffalo gather to fight for Home Medics on strike in Yangon  (Photo taken by Kenneth Narrow) In Myanmar or what formerly was known as Burma, has been taken control of by the military in their request for a year long state of emergency. Last February Suu Kyi won the election by a landslide and the military claimed it was due to widespread fraud. They then demanded a recount, but the officials of the election said there was no evidence to support these claims. The military coup then seized the country before parliament could take its place. The coup would withdraw when a fair election has taken place, resulting in the end to the state of emergency.  More than 700 people have been killed in Myanmar. Protesters, political leaders and journalists have been in the streets fighting back for their country. They bang on pots and pans, block military vehicles, sing, and chant at soldiers. The coup has violently beaten, humiliated and arrested more than 3,000 of ...
