Communication is Key

As a student just entering college it isn’t impossible to turn your visual communication into verbal, audio or written forms of communication. Comprehension has been a part of everyone’s school curriculum forever because it is important that you truly understand . You usually have to put it into your own words or should be able to explain it to someone else. Verbal communication is hands down the easiest and most effective way to communicate. That is because it is more direct! When someone is explaining something to you, there are many factors that show them that you might need more help understanding. Also verbal communication allows you to ask questions which is key to truly comprehending everything you don’t get. When you’re learning math, another language or getting directions, you will always want to ask questions. Even if it’s just for clarification, take advantage of asking questions just so that there is no confusion on your behalf. When you’re confused it's harder to carry out tasks or follow directions. Visual communication might actually be the hardest because it is through the other person's concept. They’re trying to get their message across from their point of view. Also all topics cannot be expressed or represented through visual aids. There are a few universal signs and directions that literally any and everyone can understand because it has been taught to them since they were young. For example, a stick figure with a dress on is a sign that you are near the women’s bathroom. Understanding visual communication requires perception which is an important feature to our sensory skills. Visual communication is perceptual which has to do with your mind. Whatever you see, your brain then works to interpret it into something you can follow. Visual communication is everywhere around us. The world has been a slave to marketing forever and we just don’t know. Brands that have done this are Coca Cola because the crimson red and white letters have been sculpted in our heads and we automatically know the company.

Another example is Mcdonalds, the golden arches and red background is recognized all over the world. It is located in every country and just about every city. You can go to any place in the world and still be able to recognize it.

A person with a huge brand is Kylie Jenner. Although the Kardashians/Jenners aren’t ever seen in a good limelight they are some of the richest in Hollywood because of all their streams of income. Kylie started her lip kits which were her first item off her makeup line and they sold out within their first few months. Its supposedly a great product and positively raved but undoubtedly fans first bought it because of seeing her elsewhere.

Now whenever Kylie Cosmetics releases a new product it sells out in under a day. She has also trademarked her name and her logo which  is recognizable by anyone who purchases skincare or makeup. Visual communication is such a huge part of marketing, you’re always being persuaded into buying something. It is as simple as having a neat candy station near a register at a supermarket, you’re almost compelled to buy. Here is why verbal communication is the best sales reps always lie their way into our wallets however we can verbally tell them NOOOO!

Potential Postcard and Logo Thumbnails

I want my postcard and logos to represent, how bold yet simple I am. I wanted to make sure my name is bold in every design because, even if someone doesn't read the card, they can at least see my name. I also wanted the backgrounds of the postcards to be either light blue or lavender because I didn't want to drown out the wording with a obnoxious background color. Although all the designs showcase my name the logos are pretty much representing the love I have for dancing. In the second M logo it has a woman lifting her arms in the corner. The third logo is supposed to kind of play off as a pirouette. While I wanted the first logo to remain as simple as my initials, but as strong and bold letters.

Myanmar

Last February Suu Kyi won the election by a landslide and the military claimed it was due to widespread fraud. They then demanded a recount, but the officials of the election said there was no evidence to support these claims. The military coup then seized the country before parliament could take its place. The coup would withdraw when a fair election has taken place, resulting in the end to the state of emergency.  More than 700 people have been killed in Myanmar. Protesters, political leaders and journalists have been in the streets fighting back for their country. They bang on pots and pans, block military vehicles, sing, and chant at soldiers. The coup has violently beaten, humiliated and arrested more than 3,000 of ...
